Indian climate scientist wins top UN award for Himalayan research

Dr. Anjali Menon, an environmental geologist from India, has received the United Nations Environment Medal for her pioneering work on Himalayan glacier retreat. Her decade-long research linking melting rates with microplastic pollution and climate shifts has helped predict long-term water shortages in the Indo-Gangetic plains. The award was conferred at the UN Climate Summit in Nairobi. Dr. Menon called for urgent cross-border collaboration among South Asian countries for data sharing, watershed management, and sustainable glacier tourism.
